On Wednesday 20th September, 26 of our Barbershop singers travelled to Auckland to compete in the Young Singers in Harmony Barbershop National Competition 2017. We had three groups representing us in the competition.
‘The Cover Girls’, one of Paraparaumu College’s quartets, placed 10th and also got to sing with the internationally renowned quartet ‘Love Notes’.
‘The Amatunes’ girls chorus came 8th, and ‘Coastal Local Vocals’, our combined boys chorus with Kapiti College, came 3rd in their section.

We are so proud of all these groups, who have been working hard all year to get to this stage.
A special thank you goes out to the sponsors listed below. Our singers would not have made it to the competition without their support.
Funzone, Goodmans, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Health Evolution, Coastlands Mall, Richmonds Contracting, Super Donut Hero, CTC Ltd, Meganlicious Cakes, Paraparaumu College Parents Association, Amnico Trust, Paraparaumu College Student Council, Saleo.
Our most sincere thanks to Mrs Marisa Twentyman, our female chorus and quartet tutor, and Bridget O’Shannassy of Kāpiti College who coached our boys. They have worked tirelessly to achieve these results for our students!
Thanks too to the parents who have supported the group in the lead up to Nationals and to Petra Rasmussen, Juandre Nel, Margaret Manson, Miss Claire Neil and Mrs Marisa Twentyman for accompanying the group to Takapuna last week.
