Board of Trustees

We have hit the road running this year, with a plan to upgrade the physical environment at the College.  We have started consultation on an extensive property plan.  This plan covers twelve projects including the mitigation of weather tightness issues and renovations to develop modern learning environments for our students.   Our plan is to develop the entrance to the College, upgrade our Technology Learning Area facilities and enhance the Library to support student learning.  We also plan to develop a cultural centre within the College where students can relax, learn, collaborate and feel at home.   These projects are not going to happen overnight.  Some things the Board will pay for but most of these projects will be funded from the money we get from the Ministry of Education to maintain and develop property.

Many of our students, staff, parents and caregivers, whanau and other community partners have already seen our initial ideas, and we have had a great response to our request for people to be more involved in detailed consultation on the plans.  If you haven’t seen our draft plans then you will have an opportunity very soon, including an inner-city lunchtime consultation on Wednesday 25th March.

If you can’t make any of the consultation meetings but would still like to be involved, just drop us a line via the College website and we will get back to you.

You may have noticed that this year we have changed the invoicing for some of our activity fees from “fees” to “donations”.  We have done this in response to a recent ruling from the Ombudsman concerning school payments.   Your donations go towards providing a broad and well-resourced curriculum.  We also request specific donations for curriculum-based trips, activities and resources which we couldn’t offer without parental support.

Thank you very much to all of you that have already paid your donations.  Please remember to file a donations return to get your tax refund.  For those of you yet to pay, if you do so by the 31 March you can claim the donation as a tax credit on your next tax return.  Please continue to help us maintain the environment at the College which fosters great learning.
