Kia ora koutou Rōpū Inquiry Week Our Year 9 students have spent this week engaging in rōpū inquiries, which have encouraged connection and co-operation across all our tūhono groups. Students have been creating and solving problems together, working as teams and collaborating with community groups in the Kāpiti region. This has helped our students increase their awareness of community needs and organisations, taking collective action for the care of other people, local environments or animals. Representatives of the following organisations kindly agreed to be involved in the project, and we thank them all very much for their time and expertise: - Te Ara Korowai
- Kāpiti Kindness Trust
- Kaibosh
- Waikanae Estuary Care Group
- Hōhepa
- The Nest Collective
- L’arche
- Volunteer Kāpiti
- Good Bitches Baking
- Kāpiti Women’s Centre
- Age Concern
- The Foodbank
The photos that follow show some of our Year 9 students out and about, working in and amongst the community groups. |

ARTS UPDATES We are very proud of our Shakespeare group for performing their piece from Venus and Adonis at the National Shakespeare competition at the St James Theatre over King’s Birthday weekend. They gave an outstanding performance and special congratulations to Katie Walker who came away with an award for “The Bit Part Actor Who Best Supports Other Players”. Very well done to Katie and to everyone who performed. There is a picture below of Katie, with her award. We also have 2 music festivals taking place this evening, Friday 7 June, with The Big Sing in Wellington and Smokefree Rockquest in Palmerston North. All the very best to our Big Sing ensemble for their recital this afternoon and to two very talented bands, Astronaut Nation and Red Line, who are playing in Palmy tonight. We look forward to reporting back on their achievements in due course. |
