Measles

You will be aware that there is a large and increasing measles outbreak in Auckland with over 800 confirmed cases and 21 cases in Wellington to date.

With school holidays approaching and a number of national sports and cultural events measles is likely to continue in NZ for months.

For students who have completed the standard national vaccination schedule at 15 months and 4 years, they should be protected but for those who haven’t (or if you are unsure) we would advise that you contact your GP/ Practice Nurse asap to check or vaccinate as necessary.

Measles is highly contagious. If you think your student has contracted measles or is showing any symptoms, Please keep them at home until they have been given the all clear that they do not have the virus.  Your cooperation is appreciated.
