We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for current students in Years 10 & 11 to explore Sri Lanka in December of next year!
This two-week expedition will focus on developing life skills, confidence, resilience, and independence. We have partnered with World Challenge to offer this trip, which includes community projects, treks, and the chance to observe Elephants in their natural habitat.

Troy from World Challenge will also be hosting a 30-minute presentation on Tuesday 13th May to discuss the itinerary and answer any questions you may have.
We’re excited to offer students a life-changing opportunity to explore Sri Lanka in December 2026! 13 nights through Sri Lanka!
We are partnering with World Challenge to offer this trip. It’s an opportunity for students to challenge themselves and to go out of their comfort zone whilst enjoying all the beauty these three countries have to offer.
Some of the activities include:
- Trek Little Adams Peak
- Embrace working with locals at an Elephant Conservation Centre
- Immerse yourself in the culture and learn new skills
- Discover Galle.
This leadership expedition will focus on life skills, confidence, resilience, and independence. We focus on it being student led, therefore as a team students take responsibility for the budget, transport, where to eat, activities, and communicating with locals.
Previous students have said “It gave me so much confidence to know I have the skills, initiative and resilience to travel in a foreign country and to be completely out of my comfort zone” and “I learnt lessons in self-resilience and working as a team”.
I have led three previous successful Paraparaumu College World Challenges. On Tuesday 13th May - 6pm, I will be joined by the other school leader Mark Fearon and we will be watching the presentation in Te Whare Ahurea. If you would like to join us, we would be happy to have you!
We will also be joined by a few past PC challengers who are eager to share their experiences with you. It would be great if you could join us in person in Te Whare Ahurea, please arrive by 5.50pm.
Looking forward to catching up with you.
Ngā mihi
Brenda McKenzie & Mark Fearon
